Who Else Wants Avery® Labels...? You Gotta Be Kidding Me Right?
From time to time I like to look at the competition's websites to see what they are up to and to see how their prices compare with ours at www.tlcIT.com.
Comparing labels, everyone is familiar with the "A" word. The "A" word is of course Avery ®.
They basically own the retail label market. They also have if not THE best quality label then one of the best quality labels on the market today.
Of course Avery ® labels can be found everywhere... from Wal-Mart, to Staples to Office Depot, K-Mart, Circuit City and everywhere in between...
Have you noticed them at Starbucks yet?
In addition to that, all the major software companies (aka MicroSoft) lists Avery® registered item number templates in their drop down tables when it comes to printing labels.
So, whether it's little ole plain address labels, a CD or DVD label, a round label or any one of countless rectangular labels, Avery® has them and there's a template available for each kind of in software like MS Word, MS Excel and just about every other Microsoft Office products out there.
This fact alone would keep them in business for years to come, simply because if you go to print a label and use MS Word and see the Avery® item number in the template list, you no doubt would go buy Avery labels® if you don't have them already 'cause it's so darn easy to print one out because of the template.
Keep in mind that I am not bashing Avery® labels, I think they are great labels, I used to buy them and have used them for years!
What I am saying, as if you didn't know, is that they are pretty expensive!
So when I sort of stumbled across this Avery® only website and by it's, it implied labels-for -less. I just had to check it out.
What I found did not surprise me...
For instance if you look for Avery ® item 5160 ® - 1" x 2-5/8" White rectangular Laser labels, 100 sheets, 30 labels per sheet, 3000 total labels your pay the low price (?) of $22.48!
Now I guess this is a great deal if you are used to buying Avery® brand labels! And it is a a great deal because the regular price for these same Avery brand ® labels is $40.78 according to this website.
$40.00 was the price I remember paying for Avery® before we discovered the brand labels at www.tlcIT.com.
To demonstrate the disparity in price, the same labels at www.tlcIT.com, comparing layout, is item 310904 and the price is only $12.24 which by the way includes free shipping.
I checked the shipping charges at the Avery® brand website and here's what I found about shipping:
Total shipping charges are calculated based on the total weight of all the items in your order.
So they charge you $22.48 plus maybe another $5.00 (at least) for shipping one carton of labels. That's $27.48 for Avery 5160 ® labels compared to $12.24 for the equvalent labels at www.tlcIT.com.
Sure you might say that Avery uses slightly thicker paper or a little thicker backing paper or maybe you noticed that Avery uses a brighter white paper but my question to you is...
Is that worth paying $15.00 more for?
You could buy two cartons at www.tlcIT.com for every Avery 5160 ® you buy at this competitors website.
So, it's up to you and if you want Avery® brand you can have it, but, me, I'll keep the extra fifteen bucks in my pocket and buy something more fun and useful than a bloody address label!
Always sticking up for you while avoiding false labels,
Rick
P.S. We do not sell or pretend to sell Avery® brand products or their item numbers. Did you know that although these item numbers are just a sequence of numbers they are, beleive it or not registered trademarks of Avery ® Dennison? Is that wild or what?
